From the Executive's Desk

It’s my favorite time of year – football season! That means cooler weather is on the way. It’s also a time to reflect back on our recent successes.

We just completed our Annual Conference last week in Winston Salem. It was a very well attended event with the opportunity to earn up to 12 hours of CE either P&C or L&H. The best part is that the event was free of charge for PIANC members. Imagine being fed and educated for free. What a deal! IF you want to join PIANC, please contact Lisa Farnham at

Our Conference Trade Fair had 30 exhibitors who enthusiastically met with the attendees. There were giveaways and prizes galore.

Our PIA National President Tony Curti gave an update on PIA’s activities at the national level.  President- Elect Gerald Hemphill, a native North Carolinian, also attended and engaged with the attendees.

And finally, I would like to congratulate our new Board officers – Dean Wooten, President, Keith Hayes, Vice-President and Chris Meinberg, Secretary-Treasurer, as well as our new Board members Saray Uribe, Joy Bauer and Amy Cranford Perkins.

Until next month….

Cyber Security Question of the Month:

What industries are impacted by cyber business interruption the most?

Insurance is one of the top industries targeted. Others are IT, public administration, finance, and service.

PIA National is happy to introduce the PIA 401(k) Program. It is a turn-key, low-cost solution for agency owners and their employees and performs over 90% of administrative tasks by becoming your retirement department support team.

The PIA 401(k) Plan provides what employees want and what independent agents need to deliver it, in an efficient and cost-effective way.

PIA National will be hosting a webinar on Thursday, September 8 at 2pm EST regarding its 401(k) plan.  Topics include:

  • State Mandated Programs: what’s out there & what’s coming
  • SECURE Act’s effect on traditional 401(k) plans
  • Considerations: comparing state programs to traditional 401(k)s
  • Benefits of the PIA 401(k) Plan over traditional plans

In an increasingly virtual world, it’s critical that you know how to build relationships online. That’s why PIA National has launched its latest member benefit, The Agent Experience.

"We’ve built this tool to expand your views about building relationships in a virtual world—and to provide access to resources that will help."
